Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2015

 

The Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2015 (CDM 2015) are the principal set of regulations for managing health, safety and welfare on construction projects. CDM 2015 applies to all building and construction work and includes new build, demolition, refurbishment, extensions, conversions, repair and maintenance.

We consider ourselves specialists in the area with Chris Ottaway and David Crawforth holding CMaPS status with the Association of Project Safety.

Ottaway can support your core delivery team. Our typical service provision will consist of:

  • Competent health and safety advice

  • Assist the client with their duties including appointment of other duty-holders (designers and contractors)

  • Act as Principle Designer and co-ordinate design work and health and safety arrangements

  • Facilitate good communications between client and contractors

  • Liaise and support with the Principal Contractor regarding any ongoing design and construction work

  • Identify, collect and pass on pre-construction information

  • Prepare and update the health and safety file

  • Carry out site inspections and management audits for any duty holder to ensure their duties are not compromised

Bespoke Project Management

 

Since our formation in 1992, we have undertaken many bespoke management assignments across international industry sectors ranging from the legal sector through to marine aquaculture.

In one year we oversaw the design and installation of shark nets in Hong Kong and followed that with the management of a fast track London housing tower block refurbishment scheme for the homeless.

We also assist clients on Pre-Qualification and Bid development and Presentation activities.

Retained Services

 

Many of our clients retain our services on an annual basis. This ranges from a member of our team undertaking the contracted role of Quality Manager, Environmental Manager, Bid Manager etc or Ottaway being retained as a clients “Provider of Competent Advice” for Health & Safety purposes.

Using Ottaway on a retained basis can be a cost effective solution for SME’s, regarding compliance issues.
